CES Asia 2019 was held between June 11 and 13 in Shanghai, China and Wacom’s president & CEO Nobu Ide made a keynote speech on June 12.
Ide first introduced the history of Wacom-branded pen tablet business. As Wacom takes creative professionals’ experiences to another dimension, he explained about Wacom’s on-going initiatives around Virtual Reality (in collaboration with Gravity Sketch) and Mixed Reality (with Magic Leap).
As part of Wacom’s effort to cultivate the digital stationery market where people in general use digital pen and digital ink in their daily lives, Nobu Ide also talked about joint activities with various partners such as Staedtler, Lamy, BIC, Montblanc as well as E ink, Haier, SuperNote and iFLYTEK. In the Wacom booth at the CES show floor, products from these companies were on display which also attracted lots of visitors.
Ide also touched on WILL (Wacom Ink layer Language) as the key technology to make digital ink useful for everyone in the upcoming future, and made reference to the joint effort with Microsoft. Videos in English and Chinese are available on CES’s website.
